The State Room is a new, state-of-the-art facility on the campus of The George Washington University. You'll find budget-friendly
dining and shopping nearby, or take a short cab ride to historic Georgetown,
a neighborhood that combines Colonial-era architecture and a bustling
nightlife. Take a stroll through Rock Creek Park (pausing to take in views
of the Potomac River), or enjoy a performance at the nearby Kennedy Center
for the Performing Arts.
Getting to DC
Getting to the State Rooom
The State Room is located on the 7th floor of the Elliot School of International Affairs building. The main entrance of the building is facing E street.
- By Subway: The closest Metro
stop is Farragut West on the Blue/Orange Line. Exit the Metro on the 18th street side, cross I street, and continue walking on 19th street for 4 blocks. Turn right onto E street. The Elliott School of International Affairs will be on your right on E street between 19th and 20th Streets.
- By Car: A University Parking Garage is located on the bottom level of the Elliott School of International Affairs and can be accessed on 19th Street, between F and E Street.
Getting Around DC
The Metro website offers
bus and train schedules, and a trip planner. Taxis are also generally
easy to flag in downtown DC.
Hotels
Nearby hotels (all located within walking distance) include The George
Washington University Inn, One Washington Circle Hotel, Hotel Lombardy,
State Plaza Hotel, and the Washington Suites Hotel. Capitol Reservations offers discounted rates for hotels throughout the city.
Meals
Continental breakfast will be provided from 8-9am. Snacks for the two
coffee breaks are included. There are many restaurant choices for lunch
nearby; a list of local restaurants and addresses will be provided at
the workshop.
